Sofia is an 8-year-old Junior Rider from Gainesville, FL. She began taking lessons shortly after her 7th birthday when she had requested to have a pony birthday party, which ignited her passion for ponies. She began riding with her trainer, Taryn Adamy, of Newberry, FL in January of 2020 and since then, has started her show career. Sofia's first show was last March on the final weekend of HITS Ocala, when the show concluded early due to COVID-19. It was also her green 6-year-old pony, Mochaccino's, first show!
While the nation was on lockdown due to the pandemic, Sofia made the most of this time and spent her days in lessons with Taryn. As soon as show circuits restarted, Sofia began showing her pony, Mochaccino, in walk trot and crossrails at a local circuit. On their first weekend out, she won the Mini Medal and was Champion and Reserve Champion. She continued riding throughout the year, showing at local shows as well as Fox Lea Farms in Venice.
Her enthusiasm for the sport continued to grow and her trainer recommended getting a more seasoned pony to accelerate her growth. She was quite fortunate to find her new partner, Prima Ballerina "Maddie", and began showing her at the CFHJA shows. Sofia and Maddie quickly formed a successful partnership and despite a short amount of time together, managed to win CFHJA Champion in Crossrails Equitation for the 2020 season. They have since moved through the short stirrup division, where they again won Champion in Equitation both at Fox Lea as well as CFHJA in December. She and Mochaccino were Champion in Crossrails Hunter and Reserve Champion in Crossrails Equitation at the same show.
You can find her now competing with Maddie in the Children's Pony and with Mochaccino in Short Stirrups. She can also be regularly found cheering on one of her favorite role models, Jordan Petersen, as she competes in the Grand Prix. Sofia hopes to move up to the small pony division in the coming months and has a dream to attend Pony Finals. She is a vibrant child who has exuberant energy and can be easily recognized with her glasses which she has had since she was 18 months old. She has a giving spirit and has been known to offer to let other young competitors ride her pony (even when competing directly against her). She is very excited about the 2021 season and the opportunities she has been blessed with.
